Blackmagic Design UltraStudio HD Mini

Blackmagic Design UltraStudio HD Mini is a portable SD and HD capture and playback device for Thunderbolt 3 that is powered directly from the computer and takes up only one third of a rack width. It offers a 3G-SDI input, two 3G-SDI outputs with fill and key support, an HDMI output for monitoring, analog component and composite video, two analog audio inputs, a reference input and RS-422 for deck control. The optional Teranex Mini Smart Panel adds buttons and a color display.

Portable ingest and playback for SD and HD

UltraStudio HD Mini combines professional 3G-SDI with inputs for older analog sources and is powered straight from Thunderbolt 3. It suits a mobile edit suite, a small studio and digitizing archive tapes.

Runs from the laptop battery

The device is powered over the Thunderbolt 3 connection, so it runs from a laptop battery without another power source. At one third of a rack width you can fit up to three units in a single rack unit.

Modern SDI and analog archive

The 3G-SDI input captures current camera and studio signals, while the component and composite analog inputs help you transfer older sources. HDMI is there for convenient monitoring.

Two SDI outputs

The two 3G-SDI outputs serve normal monitoring as well as separate fill and key for graphics and titles.

Teranex Mini Smart Panel

With the optional panel added, the device gets buttons and a 2.2" color display with video preview, audio meters and status.

Deck control and reference

The RS-422 port controls decks, and the Tri-Sync or Black Burst reference input synchronizes playback with broadcast systems.

Capture from cameras and old tapes

The 3G-SDI input accepts signals from cameras and studio equipment, while analog component or composite video and two 6.35 mm audio inputs (balanced and unbalanced) help digitize older tapes from broadcast decks. Captured video goes to your editing software or to the free Media Express application.

Optional Smart Panel

The Teranex Mini Smart Panel attaches to the front of the device and adds buttons and a color display showing a video preview, audio levels and status.

Connections

The rear has the Thunderbolt 3 port, HDMI output, SDI input, two SDI outputs, a reference input, analog component and composite video inputs, two analog audio inputs and the Remote connector for RS-422. The front has DIP switches and a USB port.

The device measures 140 × 170 × 44 mm (w × d × h) and weighs 608 g.
