UltraStudio 4K Extreme 3 is a professional Thunderbolt 3 and PCIe capture/playback device for SD, HD, Ultra HD and 4K video up to 60p. It provides 12G-SDI, HDMI 2.0, analog video, 12-bit RGB, HDR and hardware H.265.

UltraStudio 4K Extreme 3 combines virtually every important professional interface in a high-bandwidth desktop device. It is designed for mastering, grading, broadcast ingest and demanding monitoring.

Digital and analog connectivity without compromise
Dual 12G-SDI and HDMI 2.0 are complemented by component, composite and audio connections. The device handles key/fill, reference, timecode and multichannel audio for studio workflows.
High precision and a hardware codec
12-bit RGB and HDR workflows preserve smooth tonal transitions during finishing. The built-in H.265 codec accelerates the creation of Ultra HD distribution files.

The archived presentation described UltraStudio 4K Extreme 3 as Blackmagic's most powerful desktop capture and playback solution, using Thunderbolt 3 or optional PCIe connectivity.
It highlighted dual 12G-SDI, HDMI 2.0 and extensive analog video and audio interfaces for both modern and legacy studio sources.
The device was presented for SD, HD, Ultra HD and DCI 4K up to 60 frames per second, including 12-bit RGB, HDR metadata, key/fill output and multichannel audio.
A dedicated hardware H.265 codec and redundant high-speed host connectivity made it suitable for mastering, broadcast production and demanding post-production systems.
