Tilta 19mm Studio Mounting Bracket for Tilta Mirage Pro Matte Box

The Tilta MB-T17-MB-S19 Mounting Bracket hangs the Mirage Pro matte box on 19 mm studio rods. It is a fixed-height bracket that lines the centre of the matte box up with the lens axis to the 19 mm studio standard — so it assumes you have the matching baseplate. It slides forward along the rods, so lenses can be changed without taking the matte box off. Together with a clamp-on adapter it also acts as support for heavy lenses.

The Mounting Bracket for the Tilta Mirage Pro Matte Box in the 19 mm studio rods version is the simplest way to put the matte box on rods. It has no height or tilt adjustment — and that is exactly why it is cheaper, stiffer and quicker to set up than a rod adapter.

Fixed height to the 19 mm studio standard

The bracket is built to a fixed height that lines the centre of the matte box up with the lens axis to the 19 mm studio standard. It therefore assumes a matching baseplate under the camera; with a baseplate to a different standard the matte box axis may not meet the real lens axis. In exchange there is nothing to adjust and the rig is identical every time.

Slides along the rods for lens changes

The bracket slides back and forth along the rods, so changing a lens only means sliding the matte box out of the way — you do not have to remove it. Add a clamp-on adapter and the matte box is held in two places, working at the same time as front support for heavy cine lenses.

Bracket or rod adapter?

The mounting bracket (MB-T17-MB-L15 / MB-T17-MB-S19) is cheaper and rigid — no height and no tilt adjustment. The rod adapter (MB-T17-LRA-15 / MB-T17-SRA-19) does allow that adjustment, but it is not enough on its own: it needs the MB-T17-SAA swing-away adapter, and for the full ±25° of tilt and ±15 mm of height a rubber donut from the MB-T17-RDK set as well. The difference runs both ways — the bracket is simpler and self-sufficient, the adapter adjustable but dependent on other parts.
