The second generation of Nikon's S-series lens – the NIKKOR Z 70–200 mm f/2.8 VR S II. This professional f/2.8 medium telephoto zoom lens features Nikon's most advanced autofocus system to date, a redesigned S-series optical design, more effective image stabilization, improved ergonomics, and reduced weight. These improvements give photographers and videographers even greater flexibility and confidence when working in a wide range of situations than ever before.
Weighing just 998 g, the NIKKOR Z 70-200mm f/2.8 VR S II is one of the lightest lenses in its class. Compared to the previous generation, it is 362 g lighter and 12 mm shorter, which significantly improves balance, maneuverability, and stability when working. The new design is more comfortable when shooting handheld, and videographers will appreciate the balanced internal zoom, which does not change the center of gravity when changing the focal length—ideal especially when using a Z series camera on a gimbal.
The NIKKOR Z 70-200mm f/2.8 VR S II also offers vibration reduction with an effectiveness of up to 6 EV, which, combined with a high f/2.8 aperture, provides all the advantages in demanding conditions. In addition, Synchro VR technology, when used with compatible Z series cameras, ensures even greater image stability in both the center and edges of the frame.
The lens's response speed is significantly increased thanks to a new autofocus systemthat is fast and quiet and uses Nikon Silky Swift motors with a voice coil. Autofocus is up to 3.5× faster than the first generation of this lens, 50% quieter, and refocusing time at the longer end of the zoom has been reduced. Object tracking is also more accurate when changing the focal length.
The optical design has also been significantly improved. The new optical system uses fewer elements with higher efficiency, taking sharpness, bokeh quality, and flare resistance to an even higher level. The simplified design also contributes to a reduction in the overall weight of the lens.
Professional sealing protects the lens from adverse weather conditions. Ergonomics are further enhanced by a removable tripod ring, an ARCA-SWISS compatible foot, and a control ring with de-click functionality.
The lightest lens in its class
This new-generation S-series lens weighs only 998 g,whichis 362 g lighter than its predecessor and 12 mm shorter.

A new level of autofocus
The high speed of Nikon's Silky Swift voice coil motors and the precision of the combined focusing system provide fast response and massive support while significantly reducing noise and vibration levels.
New-generation S-series optics
For maximum image quality and a lighter lens. The optical design includes double-sided aspherical optical elements, Super ED and SR optical glass, plus Meso Amorphous Coat and ARNEO anti-reflective coatings.
Smoother bokeh
A rounded 11-blade diaphragm combined with advanced optical design creates a smoother, more defined and smoothly graded bokeh that looks more natural and gives images a more pronounced sense of depth.
Lower minimum focus distance
0.38 m at a focal length of 70 mm and 0.8 m at a focal length of 200 mm. The maximum magnification of the lens is 0.25× at 70 mm and 0.3× at 200 mm.
Agile lens for video
Theinternal zoom allows you to change focal lengths without having to repeatedly rebalance your system, and the center of gravity is maintained even when using heavy external accessories. Focal length changes during refocusing are minimized for more natural-looking focus transitions.
Control ring with aperture step deactivation
When stepped, it provides tactile feedback; when deactivated, it allows for smooth, quiet, and completely stepless control of the aperture ring.

Removable ring with tripod thread
Comes with a protective cap. The bayonet design allows for secure attachment to the lens.
HB-119 lens hood with filter window
