The Neumann KM 185 MT is a premium small-diaphragm condenser microphone from Neumann's acclaimed Series 180 range. Based on the highly successful KM 184 cardioid microphone, the KM 185 features a supercardioid pickup pattern that offers increased directivity and superior rejection of off-axis sound sources, making it ideal for demanding recording and broadcast environments.

Designed with a precision pressure-gradient transducer, the KM 185 maintains an exceptionally balanced frequency response both on and off axis. This ensures natural and transparent sound reproduction without unwanted coloration, even when sound arrives from wider angles. The supercardioid pattern provides approximately 10 dB attenuation of sounds arriving from the rear, with minimum sensitivity at an angle of 120°, enabling excellent isolation in complex acoustic environments.

The microphone incorporates Neumann's proven transformerless output circuitry, delivering low noise, outstanding transient response, and reliable performance. It operates via standard 48 V phantom power and can be connected to both balanced and unbalanced recording devices, including portable DAT and flash recorders, without difficulty.
