The Manfrotto 420CSU is a Heavy Duty Combi-Boom for compact studio spaces, working either as a standard light stand or as a boom to position a light off the camera axis. Its steel base with double leg bracing, lockable wheels and sliding feet keep it stable while moving around the studio; a counterweight sandbag is supplied. The spring-loaded arm enables precise height adjustment from 131 to 392 cm. The aluminium-and-steel construction weighs 5.6 kg, supports up to 12 kg and folds to 113 cm for easier transport and storage.

The Heavy Duty version combines a steel base with an aluminum-and-steel column. It is made for more demanding studio work; the counterweight sandbag is supplied.
With one lever movement the stand converts to a boom for precise off-axis light placement.
