Manfrotto 16mm Female Adapter

The Manfrotto 016 connects a standard 16 mm (5/8″) Baby stand stud to lighting equipment requiring a 12 mm smooth shaft with a 1/4″ male screw. Its lower socket slides over the stand stud and secures with a side screw knob; it is not a 16 mm thread. The galvanized-steel adapter is 99 mm long and weighs 140 g. Supplied with the brass 119 insert, with 1/4″ and 3/8″ female threads, it offers an additional mounting option for a matching threaded support. Check the receiving geometry of the Broncolor head or other light before assembly.

A precise lighting connection

Adapt a 16 mm Baby stud to a smaller lighting mount. The smooth 12 mm shaft ends in a 1/4″ male screw, while the side knob secures the lower socket.

Read the connections correctly

The 16 mm lower socket receives a smooth stand stud. At the other end, the 12 mm smooth shaft terminates in a 1/4″ male screw. These are different interfaces, not a 3/8″ threaded output.

Filled circles mark male threads or studs; hollow circles mark female threads or sockets. Purple dimensions are metric, green are imperial; W denotes Whitworth. The adapter dimensions are 8 + 52 + 39 = 99 mm; the separate insert is 31 mm long.

An extra mounting option

The brass 119 insert fits the lower 16 mm socket. Its opposite ends provide 1/4″ and 3/8″ female threads for a matching support screw.

Choose the matching receiver

Use the adapter for Broncolor lighting or other equipment with the corresponding receiving geometry. Check both interfaces rather than assuming compatibility with every flash head.
