Blackmagic Mini Converter UpDownCross HD is a standards converter for converting between SD and HD formats, with both SDI and HDMI inputs and outputs. It converts any input to the broadcast format you choose using Teranex algorithms and also automatically scales common computer resolutions to broadcast formats. A universal 12 V power supply is included.

Format conversion without touching your equipment
Mini Converter UpDownCross HD converts any SD or HD input to the broadcast format you choose – simply set the output format and the input is converted automatically. Up, down and cross conversion is handled by high-quality Teranex algorithms.
Computers to SDI projectors
The converter is also ideal for connecting HDMI computers to SDI projectors: 640 × 480, 800 × 600 and 1024 × 768 resolutions on the HDMI input are scaled to the broadcast format you choose, from 525i59.94 and 625i50 up to 1080p60.
Reference, re-sync and audio delay
The reference input accepts Blackburst and Tri-Sync for SD and HD, so the output can be locked to the rest of the studio. Automatic audio delay keeps sound in sync with the picture, and the converter also carries timecode and closed captioning.
Setup with mini switches
The output format and other functions are selected with mini switches using the diagram printed on the converter. New software is installed over USB from a macOS or Windows computer.
In the rack, in the truck and outdoors
The Mini Converter range of converters is built for 24/7 operation: the compact metal body fits into a studio rack, an outside broadcast truck or a live sports event outdoors. The connections are easy to reach and use standard cables.
Connections
One side has the SDI input, the SDI loop output, the HDMI input and the reference input, the other two SDI outputs, the HDMI output with monitor EDID support and the power input.

About the Mini Converter range
The Mini Converter range is designed for professional broadcast, post-production and AV installations. A compact metal chassis, high-quality connectors and standard cabling make it dependable in studios, control rooms and mobile systems.
Core settings are selected with mini switches using the diagram printed on the unit, while USB is used for software updates. The converter keeps picture and sound stable throughout the signal chain.
