One SDI card for the whole workflow
The card has one multi rate 6G-SDI input and one output on BNC connectors, switchable between SD, HD, 2K and Ultra HD. It embeds 16 audio channels in HD, 2K and 4K and 8 channels in SD, always 48 kHz and 24-bit; 6G-SDI carries 4:2:2 and 3G-SDI also 4:4:4.
Formats up to Ultra HD and 4K DCI
The card works with NTSC, PAL, 720p, 1080i, 1080PsF and 1080p up to 60 frames per second, with 2K DCI 23.98/24/25p, Ultra HD 2160p up to 30 frames per second and 4K DCI 23.98/24/25p. It processes video in 10 bits with 4:2:2 and 4:4:4 sampling (4K is 4:2:2 only), with the Rec. 601 and 709 color spaces, RP 188 timecode and closed captioning.
Format conversion
When working in HD, the built-in hardware down converter sends HD or SD to the SDI output as letterbox, anamorphic 16:9 or 4:3 center cut. During capture the software converts SD to HD, during playback 720p to 1080 and back; color space conversion runs in hardware in real time.
Dimensions and installation
The card is 95.2 mm long, weighs 127 g and draws 11 W. The PCI Express x4 generation 2 interface works in x4, x8 and x16 slots of computers with macOS, Windows and Linux.
Desktop Video software included
The Desktop Video software includes Media Express, Disk Speed Test, LiveKey, Desktop Video Utility and the driver for macOS and Windows, and Media Express, Desktop Video Utility and the driver for Linux. The card works with DaVinci Resolve, Fusion, Final Cut Pro, Premiere Pro, After Effects, Media Composer, Pro Tools and Photoshop, and plays back effects in real time in Resolve, Final Cut Pro, Premiere Pro and Media Composer.
Connectors
The bracket carries the RS-422 deck control connector with the 6G-SDI output, 6G-SDI input and reference input below it, all three on BNC connectors.

Details for SDI 4K post production
DeckLink SDI 4K is an editing card for SDI connectivity and maximum image quality. It is compatible with macOS, Windows and Linux and works with SD, HD and Ultra HD equipment. It offers RS-422 for controlling Sony decks and a sync input, so it suits studios with SDI routers and other professional SDI equipment.
The updated version of the original model supports, besides SD and HD up to 1080p60, also 2K 2048 × 1080 at 23.98/24/25p and 4K up to 4096 × 2160 at 23.98/24/25p.
Besides the basic functions it offers resolution conversion: during capture the software converts SD video to HD 720/1080, during playback it converts HD 720 to 1080 and back, and the hardware down converter scales HD to SD. It supports internal effects of Final Cut Pro, the Adobe Premiere Pro Mercury Playback Engine, Avid Media Composer and DaVinci Resolve.
The 4K DeckLink models introduced 6G-SDI, on models with HDMI also HDMI 4K, a four-lane PCIe bus and full duplex operation for simultaneous capture and playback. This can be used, for example, for continuous color correction in DaVinci Resolve.
The card is compatible with a wide range of applications for editing, color correction, VFX and audio, and offers SDK tools for system integrators.
