Tilta Nucleus-M II 7-Pin to RCP2 Control Cable (50cm)

The Tilta TCB-7P-RCP2-50 is a control cable for the Nucleus-M II system: a 7-pin plug (0B) into the port of the Nucleus-M II motor and a 4-pin plug (00B) into the CTRL port of RED cameras. The camera takes commands over the RCP2 protocol, and from the Nucleus-M II FIZ hand unit you can wirelessly start recording and change ISO, shutter speed, colour temperature and frame rate. Length 50 cm; for RED KOMODO, KOMODO-X, V-RAPTOR X and V-RAPTOR XL.

The Tilta TCB-7P-RCP2-50 links the Nucleus-M II motor to the CTRL port of a RED camera. The motor is on the rig anyway and has a free 7-pin port — the cable turns it into a control line to the camera, so the focus puller sees the camera status on the FIZ hand unit and starts recording without touching the body.

7-pin from the motor, 4-pin into the CTRL port

The 7-pin plug (0B) goes into the free port of the Nucleus-M II motor, the 4-pin plug (00B) at the other end into the CTRL port of the RED camera. The camera talks over the cable using RCP2 (RED Control Protocol 2), so the display of the Nucleus-M II FIZ hand unit shows the current values and they are changed straight from it. The cable is straight, 50 cm long, with a ferrite core at the motor connector; it reaches from the motor on the 15 mm rods to the port on the side of the camera body.

What the FIZ hand unit can control

On RED KOMODO, KOMODO-X, V-RAPTOR X and V-RAPTOR XL the cable carries record start and stop (run/stop), ISO, shutter speed, colour temperature and frame rate. Resolution, aperture and AF/MF switching are not changed from the FIZ hand unit on RED cameras. Update the firmware of the FIZ hand unit and the motor before first use.
