Tilta Camera Cage for Canon C50 Base Kit is the set for anyone who wants to use the Canon EOS C50 handheld right away, with the original XLR handle and further accessories. The foundation is the full cage TA-T93-FCC-B with 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 threads, locating pins and an ARCA base; the set adds the Xeno side handle and the XLR extension bracket.

Modular design: full or half cage

The cage consists of two side arms and a top plate. When you need the smallest possible setup, unscrew one arm and a half cage remains — the camera is lighter and narrower while keeping the ARCA base and mounting points. The top plate is detachable: with it removed there is clearance for the original Canon XLR handle, onto which the XLR extension bracket of this set is mounted.

Secure three-point installation

The cage screws to the camera at three points: the right and left mounting screws on the sides and the bottom screw in the base. Three points make sure the cage neither shifts nor twists on the body — not even during dynamic handheld shooting by the side handle, on a gimbal or with a heavier lens.

ARCA base for quick transitions

The bottom plate of the cage has an ARCA-Swiss profile, so the camera moves from a tripod head to a gimbal or into the hand without screwing and without swapping plates. On the tripod, handheld and on a gimbal the same setup stays in place; switching is a matter of one lock. The base also carries threads for further supports and Tilta accessories, such as the height-adjustable baseplate with 15 mm rods.

Vertical shooting and mounting points

The side arms carry 3/8"-16 threads and 1/4"-20 threads with locating pins, so the camera can be mounted securely in portrait orientation too — vertical video without tilt heads and without the risk of the rig rotating. The same threads carry the Xeno side handle, which goes on the left or right side; the top plate adds further 1/4"-20 threads with locating pins.

Xeno side handle

The Tilta Xeno side handle screws with a 1/4"-20 thread and locating pins to either side of the cage. Its height adjusts over a 40 mm range to suit your hand and a setup with a monitor, and the non-slip silicone surface keeps its grip even during longer handheld shoots. The handle itself carries a cold shoe and a 1/4"-20 thread with locating pins, so it can take a microphone or a small light.

XLR extension bracket

The XLR extension bracket mounts onto the original Canon C50 XLR handle and adds a NATO rail and a cold shoe. The handle remains fully functional including its XLR microphone inputs, yet it can carry a monitor, microphone or LED light. The bracket attaches at two points and is made of aluminium alloy and stainless steel, so it carries not just a light microphone but also a monitor on an articulating arm.

HDMI and USB-C cable clamps

The cage comes with two separate cable clamps: one for HDMI, one for USB-C. Both tighten by hand with thumb screws, no tools needed, and hold the connector firmly in the camera socket. When shooting with an external monitor or recorder the cable can neither be pulled out nor work loose; the clamps mount to the cage, not the camera, so the body carries no load.

The Base Kit contains the full camera cage for Canon C50 with HDMI and USB-C cable clamps, the Tilta Xeno side handle (1/4"-20 with locating pins) and the XLR extension bracket. The cage is made of aluminium alloy, the screws and locating pins of SUS304 stainless steel, and the contact surfaces and handle grip are protected by silicone. The cage measures 167.9 × 106.9 × 185.2 mm.

The Tilta series for Canon C50: cage, Base Kit, Power Kit and Pro Kit

The Base Kit sits in the middle of the TA-T93 series. The full cage alone is the cheapest entry, the Power Kit adds the Mini PD plate for a V-Mount battery with a swivelling ARCA receiver instead of the side handle and XLR bracket, and the Pro Kit is the build with the Xeno top handle, the height-adjustable ARCA baseplate with 15 mm rods and the left PD handle with a run/stop button.
