A shotgun microphone covering 40 Hz to 20 kHz. The narrow pattern picks up what is in front of it and rejects the surroundings — which is why it suits news, documentary and drama.

The microphone runs on 40 to 52 V phantom power, or on a 1.5 V cell when there is no supply in the field. On phantom the dynamic range is 107 dB and it takes up to 124 dB SPL; on battery, 98 dB and 115 dB SPL.

A figure for setting preamp gain, with ±3 dB tolerance for unit-to-unit variation.
It measures 20 × 268 mm and weighs 185 g without a battery, so even a light camera mount carries it.
A 3-pin XLR and a 50 cm cable — the standard that fits any mixer or recorder.
