RGBlink MSP 217

The RGBlink MSP 217 is a compact, all-in-one SDI-to-fiber and fiber-to-SDI converter designed for professional broadcast and AV workflows. With automatic format detection, embedded audio pass-through, and support for long-distance transmission via interchangeable SFP+ modules, it delivers stable, high-quality SDI transport over fiber in a miniature form factor.

The MSP 217 converts 3G-SDI to optical fibre and back. The same unit works as a transmitter or as a receiver, so two identical units are all a link needs. The reach depends on the chosen SFP module – from 300 m over multimode fibre up to 20 km over single-mode.

One unit, transmitter and receiver

The MSP 217 has a 3G-SDI input and output and a slot for an SFP module. It detects the input format itself, passes embedded audio through unchanged and handles SD, HD and 3G-SDI from 480i to 1080p60 to SMPTE 259M-C, 292M, 424M and 425M (Level A and B) as well as DVB-ASI. It is powered by a 12 V adapter.

Reach set by the SFP module

The SFP module is not included and is chosen to suit the route: single-mode SFP-20KM, SFP-10KM or SFP-2KM, or multimode SFP-300M. The MSP 217 adapts itself to a 3 Gb/s or 10 Gb/s module, and the fibre connects with a duplex LC connector.
