PTZOptics PT-JOY-G4 IP Joystick

The PTZOptics PT-JOY-G4 IP and serial joystick controls up to 253 PTZ cameras over the network or 7 over RS-232, RS-422 and RS-485. VISCA, Pelco and Sony, a large LCD screen, 10 custom buttons, automatic triggers and PoE power.

The PTZOptics PT-JOY-G4 is a fourth-generation PTZ camera controller with a metal housing and rubberised precision controls. It works with most serial and IP cameras, including Sony, switches between protocols at the press of a button and offers three operating modes for experienced operators and volunteers alike. Setup takes just minutes in the web interface.

Everything at hand

Dials fine-tune zoom and pan/tilt speed, iris, shutter and red and blue gain. Focus can be set manually, with one push, or locked.

Network and serial

Connect cameras over Ethernet or RS-232, RS-422 and RS-485, and switch between IP and serial control with one button. Power comes from a 12 V adapter or PoE.

Status at a glance

The large LCD shows the IP address, selected camera, protocol and exposure and white balance mode. It also lets you operate the OSD menu of PTZOptics cameras.

A controller for every operator

Basic, Basic PTZ and Matrix modes limit the controls to what the operator needs, so even volunteers can handle the joystick. Export and re-import settings for different productions and update firmware directly from the controller.

A custom button on the joystick. Program the button on top of the joystick to start recording, turn on tracking, dim the lights and more.

Automatic triggers. When you switch cameras, the controller sends a command to other equipment – putting the camera in preview in vMix or Vizrt / TriCaster, or setting Philips Hue lights.
