Product description

The Neumann KM 184 Stereo Set is a matched pair of world-renowned compact cardioid condenser microphones designed for professional stereo recording applications. Part of Neumann’s acclaimed 180 Series, the KM 184 delivers exceptional clarity, natural transient response, and consistent off-axis performance. Ideal for recording acoustic instruments, drum overheads, orchestras, choirs, broadcast productions, and stereo ambience, this stereo set provides the precision and reliability expected from a Neumann microphone system.

The Neumann KM 184 Stereo Set includes two KM 184 cardioid condenser microphones, carefully selected for professional stereo recording applications where accuracy, consistency, and natural sound reproduction are essential. As one of the most widely used small-diaphragm condenser microphones in the world, the KM 184 has become a studio standard trusted by engineers, producers, broadcasters, and musicians alike.

Part of Neumann's highly respected 180 Series, the KM 184 is based on the heritage of the legendary KM 84 while incorporating modern refinements that provide a slightly enhanced high-frequency presence around 9 kHz. This subtle boost delivers a fresh, open, and detailed sound character while preserving the natural tonal balance for which Neumann microphones are known.

The cardioid pressure-gradient capsule offers excellent directivity with remarkably consistent off-axis response. Sounds arriving from the sides remain natural and free from coloration, allowing accurate capture of complex acoustic environments and stereo sound fields. This characteristic makes the KM 184 particularly effective for orchestral recordings, chamber music, piano, strings, acoustic guitar, percussion, drum overheads, choir recordings, and broadcast applications.

The KM 184 employs Neumann’s transformerless output circuitry, delivering outstanding technical performance, low distortion, high reliability, and excellent transient response. With a maximum SPL handling capability of 138 dB, the microphones can easily capture loud sound sources while maintaining exceptional detail and transparency.

The compact and lightweight design allows discreet microphone placement in studio, stage, and broadcast environments. Powered by standard 48 V phantom power, the KM 184 works seamlessly with professional audio interfaces, mixers, preamps, and recording systems.

Available in matte nickel or matte black finishes, the KM 184 Stereo Set is an ideal solution for professional stereo recording where precision, consistency, and world-class audio quality are required.
