The filter damps the narrow bands street lamps emit, so the night sky loses its orange cast and the stars separate from the background. It is no use for ordinary photography — colours would shift; it makes sense where the sky above a city is being photographed.

The surface repels water and grease, so drops run off and fingerprints wipe away without smears; the coating also stands up to cleaning in the field.

The filter is two millimetres thin, so it fits inside the folded gimbal and does not have to come off before the camera is put away. It takes out the yellow-green cast that street lamps bring into night footage; the sky above the city stops looking dirty and the picture keeps its contrast.
