Full HD 1920 × 1080, 1200 nits, 306 grams

The H5 puts a professional 12G-SDI interface into a body weighing 306 grams and measuring 145 × 90 × 31 millimetres. That is what sets it apart from the larger models that do the same job — on a gimbal or a light rig you feel the difference at once.

The IPS panel at 1200 cd/m² stays readable outdoors in shade and against the light, has 10-bit colour depth and is touch-driven: swipe the left half of the screen for brightness, the right half for volume.

12G-SDI, 4K HDMI and custom 3D LUTs

The monitor has both a 12G-SDI and a 4K HDMI input and output, so it connects to a camera with either interface and passes the signal on. The 12G-SDI interface carries Ultra HD 4K at 12 Gb/s; the lower 6G, 3G, HD and SD standards too, of course.

Up to thirty-two custom 3D LUTs can be loaded, so you see the target look while shooting. The tool set covers waveform, vector scope, brightness histogram, Y and YUV parade, peaking, false colours, exposure, check field, nine grid, markers, pixel to pixel, overscan, anamorphic mode, image flip and freeze, zoom and embedded audio.

Power and running time

Sony NP-F batteries, DC 12 V or USB-C

The monitor runs on NP-F batteries through a plate on the back, and the manufacturer quotes a figure for each: F550 (2200 mAh) about 1.6 hours, F750 (4400 mAh) about 3.2 hours and F970 (6600 mAh) about 4.8 hours.

Mains power comes from a 12 V / 1.5 A adaptor with a 5.5 × 2.1 mm plug, or 5 V / 2 A over USB-C — from a power bank, for instance.
