Blackmagic Ultimatte 12 HD Mini is an advanced keyer for virtual sets with HDMI connections for Blackmagic Studio cameras, Pocket Cinema Cameras and ATEM Mini switchers. It has the same algorithms as the higher Ultimatte 12 models, a 6 GB Media Pool frame store for realistic fixed camera virtual sets and can convert camera control from SDI to HDMI. It is controlled with free software for Mac and Windows.
The most affordable Ultimatte 12 brings professional keying and virtual sets to compact productions with consumer cameras and ATEM Mini switchers.

Ultimatte 12 HD Mini has the same algorithms and internal color space as the HD, 4K and 8K models, so it produces identical quality compositions.
Foreground and background from HDMI cameras.
6 GB for still backgrounds.
From an ATEM SDI switcher to an HDMI camera.
Multiple units on one monitor.
The unique Ultimatte 12 HD Mini has HDMI connections, so the world's most advanced keyer works with consumer cameras, Blackmagic Studio cameras, Pocket Cinema Cameras and ATEM Mini switchers. Foreground and background come in over HDMI, and the program goes out over both HDMI and 3G-SDI.

Ultimatte 12 HD Mini converts camera control from SDI to HDMI, so an ATEM SDI switcher can control a Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera connected via HDMI – color corrector, tally and record trigger. Just add a camera number in the Ultimatte utility; camera control over HDMI also works with switchers such as ATEM Mini.

All Ultimatte 12 models, even Ultimatte 12 HD Mini, have the same advanced algorithms and a huge internal color space, so they all produce identical quality compositions. The processing automatically generates internal mattes and processes different parts of the image separately based on the colors in each area: fine edge detail where it is needed most, like on hair, and smoother transitions between colors.

Ultimatte 12 analyzes the scene and automatically sets over 100 parameters. Just make sure the scene is well lit and the cameras are white balanced, then activate the auto key. Screen Correction also compensates for unevenly lit green or blue screens.

All models have a 6 GB Media Pool frame store for pre rendered still frames of a 3D modeled set. That means a virtual set even in a small room and without external equipment – each camera gets its own Ultimatte 12 with a background loaded. If the cameras don't move, the backgrounds look perfect.

The layer compositing mode adds tinted objects such as colored glass or graphics on top of the foreground and preserves their colors even when the talent walks behind them. Improved algorithms remove green tinting and spill, map shadows correctly onto the new background and handle transparent objects with reflections.

New flare, edge and transition processing removes the background without affecting the colors you want to keep – such as a bright yellow dress in front of a green screen. Ultimatte 12 treats different parts of the image separately while keeping color transitions smooth.

All models include the free Ultimatte Software Control for Mac and Windows, which also uploads still frames to the frame store; settings are kept in flash memory when the power is off. The optional Ultimatte Smart Remote 4 controls up to eight Ultimatte 12 units over Ethernet, and thanks to the monitor cascade you can view them all on a single SDI monitor without a video router.

The rear has an AC power input, Ethernet, HDMI inputs for background and camera foreground, HDMI and SDI program outputs, a return input for camera control and monitor in and out; the front has USB, preset and menu buttons, a 2.2″ LCD and a spin knob.

The Ultimatte 12 range keeps the high image processing quality while improving affordability: perfect matte edge handling, better color separation, excellent color fidelity and improved suppression of screen color spill onto the foreground. The HD Mini, HD, 4K and 8K models let you choose the tool for your broadcast standard; the most affordable Ultimatte 12 HD Mini is designed for ATEM Mini control rooms and opens the way to virtual sets with fixed cameras.
