Product description

Blackmagic DeckLink Quad 2 is a PCI Express card with eight independent 3G-SDI connectors for multi-channel capture and playback of SD and HD video up to 1080p60. Each of the eight channels can be switched to input or output in any combination, so one card in a single slot replaces eight cards – for developers, media servers, digital signage and real time video systems.

Eight 3G-SDI mini DIN connectors switch independently between capture and playback. The card is fully compatible with the previous four-channel model and gives developers up to eight inputs or eight outputs.

Set every connector separately

The bracket carries nine mini DIN connectors: eight bidirectional 3G-SDI and a Black Burst or Tri-Sync reference input. Every channel carries 16 channels of embedded 48 kHz / 24-bit audio; the card connects to regular BNC cabling with DIN 1.0/2.3 to BNC adapter cables, sold separately.

Dense multi-channel connectivity

Eight independent capture and playback cards in one PCI Express slot save space in servers. The channels suit capture from several cameras, channel-in-a-box, replay, multi-screen digital signage and multi-channel systems for captioning and format conversion.

SD and HD formats up to 1080p60

Every channel supports NTSC, PAL, 720p, 1080i, 1080PsF and 1080p up to 60 frames per second. The card handles 12-bit RGB 4:4:4 up to 1080p30 in playback and 10-bit YUV 4:2:2 in all formats, the Rec. 601, 709 and 2020 color spaces and static HDR metadata with HLG and PQ transfer characteristics; it converts 720p to 1080 and back in hardware during playback.

Dimensions and installation

The card is 160 mm long, weighs 130 g and draws 22 W. The PCI Express x8 generation 2 interface works in x8 and x16 slots; among Mac computers, a Mac Pro with PCI Express slots is required.

Flexibility through the SDK

The Desktop Video software includes Media Express, Disk Speed Test, LiveKey, Desktop Video Utility and the driver for macOS and Windows, and Media Express, Desktop Video Utility and the driver for Linux. The card works with DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, Premiere Pro, Media Composer, After Effects and Pro Tools, and the Desktop Video SDK exposes each of the eight channels to applications separately.

DeckLink Quad 2 integrates eight DeckLink cards on one board in a single PCI Express slot. It is designed for developers, OEM manufacturers, media servers, multi-screen digital signage and real time video systems. It offers eight independent 3G-SDI interfaces for SD and HD up to 1080p60.

Every SDI interface is independent and can be switched to a supported video standard, and the card offers full duplex operation for simultaneous capture and playback. A Black Burst or Tri-Sync sync input, PCI Express x8 generation 2 and support for Windows, macOS and Linux are provided.

Development and image quality
The included SDK, DirectShow filters and QuickTime API let you build applications for multi-channel capture, playback, captioning and format conversion. The card supports uncompressed 8 and 10-bit SD/HD 4:2:2 YUV video without generation loss or compression artifacts.

Efficiency and connectivity
Eight independent capture and playback cards in one PCIe slot save space in servers. Low SDI jitter allows long cable runs; embedded SDI audio including Dolby Digital for surround applications is supported.

Media Express and an SDK for custom workflows compatible with Blackmagic DeckLink cards are included.
