The ZEISS UV filter absorbs ultraviolet radiation, which often causes a bluish cast in photos—especially around noon and at high altitudes. The glass is color-neutral and does not reduce light, so the filter can remain permanently on the lens to protect the front element from dust, dirt, moisture, and mechanical damage.

The filter is made of ZEISS glass with a T* anti-reflective coating . This coating reduces reflections on the glass surface, allowing more light to pass through the filter and preventing ghosting or flare. The filter mount has a low profile so it can be used even on wide-angle lenses, and features a front thread for attaching additional lens caps or lens hoods.

The filter is optimized for ZEISS lenses, but it can be used on any lens with a 72 mm thread.
