VAXIS VFX 4x5.65" IRND 0.3 FILTER

The VAXIS VFX IRND 0.3 is a rectangular 4 × 5.65″ (101.6 × 143.5 mm) matte box filter that cuts 1 EV of light (ND2). Its neutral grey density with infrared suppression leaves the colours of the scene unchanged.

An IRND filter reduces the light reaching the sensor while suppressing infrared, which with stronger ND filters shows up as a colour cast. Density 0.3 equals 1 EV (ND2), so you can fine-tune exposure or open up by a stop or two. The 4 × 5.65″ size fits standard matte boxes.

Why IRND

ND filters let infrared through, which a digital sensor records as a colour cast. IRND suppresses it, so grey stays neutral.

VAXIS VFX IRND 4 × 5.65″ filters come in densities from 0.3 to 2.1 (1 to 7 EV), so you can build a set for the light you shoot in.

Exposure without compromise

With an ND filter you no longer have to stop down or shorten the shutter because of light. Density 0.3 cuts 1 EV and keeps shallow depth of field and natural motion blur.
