Tilta Illusion 95mm Digital Dynamic Diffusion Filter Kit

The Tilta Illusion 95 mm Digital Dynamic Diffusion Kit is a set of three circular filters for the Tilta Mirage matte box — strengths 1/8, 1/4 and 1/2. Water White glass with a double-sided nano coating keeps colours true and stands up to water and scratches. The 95 mm discs drop into the matte box tray and do not screw onto the lens. Three filters are supplied.

Illusion is Tilta’s own filter line for the circular 95 mm standard of the Mirage matte box. Tilta built it on premium Water White glass with a double-sided nano coating so the filter can cope with the resolution of today’s cameras without introducing a colour shift.

Digital Dynamic Diffusion slightly lowers contrast and takes off the digital edge while retaining as much detail as possible. Compared with the standard Digital Diffusion it renders more sharpness and borrows only a hint of the stronger diffusion filters.

The kit holds three strengths of the Digital Dynamic Diffusion filter — 1/8, 1/4 and 1/2 — so you can move from a discreet softening to a markedly soft image without buying them one at a time. We stock only the 1/8 strength on its own; 1/4 and 1/2 are available only in this kit.

Thin and light glass

The circular Illusion glass is noticeably thinner and lighter than traditional filters, so it does not weigh the matte box rig down and travels easily. The photo shows the Illusion leather filter pouch.

Double-sided nano coating

Tilta coats the filters using a 5 nm vacuum process and blends the layers for each coating separately: an anti-reflective film, a colour-separation film and a polarising film. The surface then resists scratches, repels water and oil, and reflects less.

Premium Water White glass

Water White glass has none of the green cast of ordinary glass, so the filter does not tint the image and colours stay true. The disc is rimless and holds the same thickness across its whole surface.

Built for the Mirage matte box

The filter is made for the circular 95 mm standard of the Tilta Mirage matte box — it drops into the tray and does not screw onto the lens. It cannot be used without a Mirage matte box or tray.
