Tilta Hard Matte Kit for Tilta Mirage Pro Matte Box

The Tilta MB-T17-HM Hard Matte Set holds five fixed mattes that clip into the Mirage Pro matte box in front of the filters and narrow the opening to the focal length in use. That cuts off the light falling outside the frame before it ever enters the rig, so it cannot veil the image. The set covers focal lengths from 16 to 180 mm.

The Hard Matte Set for the Tilta Mirage Pro Matte Box is five fixed mattes in different sizes. A matte slides into the matte box body in front of the filters and shrinks the opening so that only the image the lens actually needs passes through.

Five sizes from 16 to 180 mm

The set contains five mattes for 16–20 mm, 24–28 mm, 32–35 mm, 50–65 mm and 65–180 mm. You pick the one that narrows the opening most tightly for the lens in use — the smaller the opening, the less out-of-frame light reaches the filters and the front element. That light is exactly what veils an image and lowers contrast without ever showing up as a visible flare.

They clip in and stay put

The mattes simply clip into the matte box body, without tools and without screws, and swap over just as quickly. On set, choosing the matte to match the lens takes seconds. The material is aluminium alloy with a matte finish that does not reflect on its own.
