Tilta Dual USB-C Control Cable for Nucleus Auto Focus Adapter (45cm)

The Tilta TCB-USBC-2USBC-45 is a Y control cable for the Nucleus Auto Focus adapter: one USB-C plug into the Motor port of the adapter, two USB-C plugs into the bottom ports of two Nucleus Nano II motors. Over it the adapter sends the focus commands from the autofocus of the Sony camera and powers the motors at the same time. Length 45 cm; included in the Adapter Kit and the Dual Motor Kit of the adapter, sold separately as a spare or second unit.

The Tilta TCB-USBC-2USBC-45 is the cable the Nucleus Auto Focus adapter (E to PL) moves the motors with: the Sony camera measures focus by phase detection, the adapter turns it into movement and sends it over this cable to the Nucleus Nano II motors on the focus and iris rings of the lens.

One Motor port, two Nano II motors

The USB-C plug on the single end goes into the Motor port on the Nucleus Auto Focus adapter; past the splitter the cable divides into two branches, each with a USB-C plug for the bottom port of one Nucleus Nano II motor. The cable carries both control and power for the motors, so the motors need no cable of their own to the battery — the adapter takes power through its Power port. The 45 cm length reaches from the adapter on the mount to the motors on the 15 mm rods in front of the lens.

Part of both adapter kits

The cable comes in the Adapter Kit (adapter, rods, motor mount, 7-pin → USB-C power cable and this cable) and in the Dual Motor Kit with two Nano II motors. On its own it serves as a spare or for a second rig with its own adapter. It is not used with Nucleus-M II motors — those connect to the Motor port of the adapter with the 7-pin → USB-C cable (36 cm). Before using the adapter, the firmware of the adapter and the motors must be up to date.

Tilta cables

The Tilta TCB cable range links camera, battery and accessories on the rig: power from a V-Mount or Gold Mount plate over P-Tap, 2-pin Lemo, 3-pin Fischer or a DC barrel connector, USB-C PD for monitors and handles, 7-pin control cables for the Nucleus system and HDMI or BNC for the picture. Lengths follow the rig — short on the cage, longer out to arms and batteries; this cable is one of them.
