Thypoch Eureka 50mm f/2 Aluminium is a full-frame manual Leica M lens that pairs a 1950s-inspired collapsible construction with modern optics. Its anodized aluminium-alloy housing keeps the lens itself to approximately 120g; it is only 27mm long when collapsed and 41.2mm in use. The natural 50mm angle of view, f/2 maximum aperture and 12-blade diaphragm make it an exceptionally compact tool for street, portrait, documentary and travel photography.

The aluminium Eureka combines a compact vintage character with an approximately 120g lens weight. Its barrel retracts to 27mm for storage and extends to 41.2mm for shooting.

Retro character, modern optics
Useful information from the original copy is retained: Eureka 50mm provides a natural, human-eye-like perspective for intimate portraits, documentary work, street scenes and landscapes. The classic six-element, four-group Double Gauss construction is paired with modern coatings; the manufacturer specifies an ED element to reduce chromatic aberration and an HRI element to correct field curvature and spherical aberration.
The f/2 maximum aperture and 12-blade diaphragm help create a soft, circular out-of-focus rendering. This is a manual lens: focusing remains direct and tactile, with no electronic image stabilisation.
Optical design and contrast transfer
The manufacturer diagram shows a classic 6-element, 4-group Double Gauss design. One ED and one HRI element help correct chromatic aberration, field curvature and spherical aberration, while the MTF chart describes contrast transfer across the image field.
