Tamron 150-500 mm F/5-6.7 Di III VC VXD pro Sony FE

The Tamron 150-500mm F/5-6.7 Di III VC VXD lens not only provides high image quality, but also high comfort of use. Despite its remarkable focal length of 500 mm, it is very comfortable to use, as it is only 209.6 mm long and has a maximum diameter of 93 mm. As the first Tamron lens for full-frame cameras with a Sony FE-Mount bayonet, it is equipped with a VC image stabilizer, which allows you to take sharp ultra-telephoto shots freehand. The optical design consists of 25 elements in 16 groups, including several special glass elements and hybrid asphericals for correcting optical aberrations. The BBAR-G2 lens coating minimizes reflections inside the lens and suppresses ghosting and flare, which are particularly common when shooting in backlight. With a focal length of 150 mm, the minimum focusing distance is 0.6 m, which means that the lens is also suitable for impressive detailed shots. In short, the 150-500mm F/5-6.7 is a very versatile lens that can be used for many subjects, from landscapes and wildlife to sports photography.

VXD

VXD autofocus is a world first: it is the first linear focus motor developed by Tamron for excellent autofocusing. Two VXD modules, which operate in a floating system and are controlled by electronic pulses, ensure fast and accurate focusing on both near and distant objects. The new motor also guarantees improved AF tracking, for example when shooting sports. Autofocus is so quiet that you can shoot even in situations that require complete peace and quiet.

VC - Image Stabilization

This mechanism helps to keep the image sharp when shooting without a tripod or in poor lighting conditions.

Special XLD optical elements

Similar to LD, it prevents chromatic aberration and other defects. However, XLD is a much more sophisticated system that is mostly used in telephoto zooms.

Special LD optical elements

Color aberration is a common optical defect that manifests itself in many ways. We often talk about so-called chromatic aberration, which occurs more frequently with wide-angle lenses. LD elements are made of special optical glass with extremely low light dispersion, which effectively compensates for color defects, especially noticeable when using telephoto lenses at their extreme position.

MR - Splash Protection

Tamron lenses have a weather-resistant casing that optimally protects the sensitive interior from wind and weather. The robust outer casing is effectively sealed against moisture ingress at all critical points (e.g., between the focus ring and the bayonet mount). This ensures reliable operation even in the most adverse outdoor shooting conditions.

IF - Internal Focusing

With internal focusing lenses, the length of the lens does not change during focusing and the filter ring does not rotate with it. This makes handling easier, especially with longer telephoto zoom lenses, as well as shooting with polarizing and gradation filters. Other advantages include a shorter focusing distance throughout the focus range, less light loss in the corners of the image (vignetting), and less aberration related to focusing.

ASL - Aspherical Lenses

The abbreviation "ASL" (ASpherical Lens) refers to hybrid aspherical lens elements. They correct typical aberrations in zoom lenses, such as spherical aberrations (focus errors). In addition, several other optical elements can be replaced, enabling a more compact design and consistently high image quality.

BBAR / BBAR G2

The BBAR coating prevents reflection and scattering of light hitting the lens surface. You avoid loss of brightness and contrast and prevent "ghosting." The BBAR coating also contributes to natural color rendering. Since 2019, the advanced BBAR G2 coating has been used.

FLR coating

The fluoride coating permanently protects the front lens from contamination. Oil and water droplets do not adhere to the surface, which is therefore very easy to clean.

ZL - Zoom lock

ZOOM LOCK allows you to lock the zoom at any focal length.
