XA and ED elements
Two extreme aspherical elements and low-dispersion glass suppress chromatic aberration and purple fringing against the light.
The Sony FE 35mm F1.4 GM is a modern lens in the G Master series that combines top image quality, beautiful bokeh, and a compact, lightweight body. It weighs only 524 g, has a diameter of 76 mm, a length of 96 mm, and a filter diameter of 67 mm.

Eleven aperture blades keep the bokeh round even stopped down, while two XA elements and ED glass cut chromatic aberration. Sharp from centre to corners, focusing from 27 cm.

The ring’s detents can be switched off, so exposure changes smoothly while filming and the microphone never hears a click. Switch them back on for stills and set the aperture blind, in whole stops.

On full frame it is the classic reportage 35 mm; on APS-C or Super 35 it behaves like a standard 52.5 mm. A single lens therefore covers two bodies in the bag.
The pair of Extreme Dynamic linear motors keeps up with moving subjects and fast bursts. Linear Response MF turns ring rotation directly into focus change — the point that matters when pulling focus by hand on video.

Rounded blades and controlled spherical aberration keep the background smooth, free of polygons and rings.
At 0.23× magnification the detail is there without reaching for another lens.
The assignable button and the focus mode switch sit under your fingers, with no trip into the menu.
The 11-blade aperture design ensures an almost perfectly circular bokeh shape. Two XD (Extreme Dynamic) linear motors enable fast, precise, and quiet autofocus, while professional controls—the focus lock button and the AF/MF mode switch—provide full control when taking photos and shooting video.
The FE 35mm F1.4 GM features advanced optics with two extreme aspherical (XA) elements and ED elements that minimize chromatic aberration and purple fringing. The result is high contrast and sharpness from the center to the edges of the image. The lens maintains excellent performance even in low light, making it a versatile tool for both photographers and videographers.
Thanks to its 11-blade aperture design and careful control of spherical aberration, the lens delivers the beautiful, smooth bokeh characteristic of the G Master series. The minimum focusing distance is 27 cm with a maximum magnification of 0.23×, allowing you to capture stunningly blurred close-up shots and create creative compositions.
XD Linear Motors ensure precise and quiet AF with excellent responsiveness, which you’ll appreciate when tracking moving subjects and during high-speed photography. The Linear Response MF function enables smooth manual focusing, where rotation of the focus ring directly corresponds to the change in focus, ideal for creative video effects.
The lens offers professional controls, including a focus lock, an AF/MF mode switch, and the ability to disable aperture ring stepping during video recording. On APS-C or Super 35 bodies, it functions as a standard 52.5mm lens. The focus lock button can be customized to suit the user’s needs, ensuring quick access to important functions for photographers and videographers.
The Sony FE 35mm F1.4 GM is ideal for professionals who want a combination of compactness, top-of-the-line optics, and exceptional handling for both still photography and video.
