Saramonic WiTalk BASE-V16

The Saramonic WiTalk BASE-V16 is an intercom kit for a large crew: the WiTalk BASE station with a V-Mount battery plate and 16 WiTalk9 SRH single-ear remote headsets, plus 32 batteries and two charging docks for 10 batteries; a rolling case is included. The headsets talk to the base station over 1.9 GHz DECT at distances of up to 700 m, split into eight talk groups, and by linking base stations the system grows to as many as 64 people.

16 headsets per base station, up to 64 people

One base station serves up to 16 full-duplex headsets and adds a seventeenth, wired one through the 3.5 mm jack. Linking up to four base stations with LAN cables grows the system to 64 people, and fibre media converters let the base stations sit up to a kilometre apart. As the crew moves between coverage zones, headsets switch automatically to the strongest base station.

16 WiTalk9 headsets in the kit

The kit contains 16 WiTalk9 SRH single-ear remote headsets with the three-microphone ClearTalk array, IPX5 protection and up to 15 hours of runtime. Each headset comes with two batteries, and the two charging docks charge 20 batteries at once. Cooling-gel and foam ear cushions swap quickly.

Eight role-based talk groups

The crew splits into up to eight independent talk groups — camera, lighting, direction. Everyone hears two groups at once and chooses which one to speak into with the A/B button on the headset; a voice prompt confirms “Team A” or “Team B”. Leaders have their own channel that other members cannot join. Choose the Film, Event or Stage preset or create custom groups with names and colours.

Up to 700 metres of range

The base station works in the 1.9 GHz DECT band and covers a radius of up to 700 m — a large studio, a theatre or an outdoor stage; depending on the site and RF interference the actual range is typically 600–700 m. The two side antennas can be turned horizontal for better vertical coverage. It works best placed at least 1.7 m above the ground.

LAN, USB-C, 3.5 mm and 4-wire

All connections sit on the bottom panel. The LAN ports cascade base stations, and USB-C connects a computer as an audio device, bringing colleagues into the conversation via Zoom or Teams. The 3.5 mm input and output route audio, and the analogue 4-wire interface ties the base station into Clear-Com, Riedel, RTS, Datavideo or LaON intercoms.

Power anywhere

The base station runs from the mains through the DC input or PoE, and in the field from a V-Mount battery on the plate. It needs no fixed power and also mounts on a stand — it has 5/8" and 3/8" threads.

The high-resolution display shows talk groups, battery status and signal strength, and stays readable in sunlight.

A rolling case is included in the kit.

Control from a browser, app or PC

Talk groups, headsets and settings are managed from the web interface, the Saramonic mobile app or the PC software. The base station connects to a browser over an Ethernet cable or through its own Wi-Fi network. Pressing mute and power together on a headset flashes its number and group on the base station display, so it is clear at once whose headset it is.

Works with WiTalk9 and WiTalk9 X headsets

WiTalk9 X and WiTalk9 headsets — single-ear, dual-ear and helmet-ready — can be mixed on the base station, so everyone on the team gets the style that suits them. Headsets of the earlier WiTalk series and the WiTalk9 SE do not work with the base station.

Magnesium and IP66

The magnesium alloy chassis is stiffer than standard aluminium alloys, dissipates heat well even during long high-load operation and naturally shields electromagnetic interference. IP66 protection keeps out dust and water, so the base station handles the studio as well as rain on an outdoor shoot.

WiTalk BASE is the central hub of the WiTalk ecosystem for large productions — broadcast, film, live events and demanding AV environments where the team needs reliable, secure communication over long distances. DECT transmission is encrypted, so conversations stay private.

Full duplex lets everyone speak and listen at the same time without pressing a button, so communication between crew members flows naturally. Single-ear headsets leave the other ear free for the surroundings and stay comfortable through long shifts.

The V-Mount plate allows operation on standard V-Mount batteries for mobile productions where fixed power is not available. The V-Mount version is compatible worldwide and suits most users.
