The Neumann TLM 193 is a professional large-diaphragm condenser microphone featuring a cardioid polar pattern and transformerless circuitry for exceptionally low self-noise and a wide dynamic range. Designed for studio vocals, instruments, broadcast, and voice recording, it delivers natural, transparent sound reproduction with outstanding transient response and minimal coloration.
The Neumann TLM 193 is a premium large-diaphragm condenser microphone developed to provide world-class recording quality for professional studios, project studios, musicians, and broadcasters. Combining Neumann’s renowned engineering with transformerless microphone technology, the TLM 193 delivers exceptionally low self-noise, high SPL handling, and a remarkably natural sound character.
Featuring a pressure-gradient transducer with a cardioid polar pattern, the TLM 193 captures sound with excellent accuracy and consistent tonal balance across a wide pickup angle of ±100°. Sounds arriving from the sides are reproduced naturally without the unwanted coloration often found in other microphone designs, making it ideal for recording in both controlled and reflective acoustic environments.
The microphone's transformerless (TLM) circuitry replaces the traditional output transformer with advanced electronic balancing technology. This design minimizes distortion, suppresses RF interference, and provides an extremely clean signal path with exceptional transient response and dynamic performance.
With an incredibly low self-noise of just 10 dB-A and the ability to handle sound pressure levels up to 140 dB SPL without distortion, the TLM 193 is suitable for everything from delicate vocal performances to loud acoustic instruments. Its wide dynamic range of 130 dB (A-weighted) ensures detailed and accurate recordings across the entire volume spectrum.
The frequency response extends flat down to 20 Hz, allowing accurate low-frequency reproduction without coloration. The capsule is elastically mounted to reduce handling and structure-borne noise, while all exposed components are electrically grounded to resist interference and contamination.
The TLM 193 is an excellent choice for vocals, voice-over work, acoustic instruments, piano, strings, percussion, and professional broadcast applications where transparency and accuracy are paramount.
