Manfrotto ADAPTER FOR TRIPODS 3/8M-3/8F

The Manfrotto 120-38 is an original tripod spacer with a 3/8″ female thread underneath and a 3/8″ male screw on top. Designed for the Manfrotto 400 Studio Geared Head, formerly 3263, it raises the head above the tripod platform to provide clearance for its 90° tilt. The spacer screws onto the tripod first, followed by the compatible head, so it retains the same 3/8″ mounting interface without introducing a separate tilt mechanism. At 30 g, it is a compact addition to a photographic support kit when the head needs more space above the platform.

Correct connection

The bottom 3/8″ female thread screws onto the tripod’s male stud. The top 3/8″ male screw attaches to the head’s female mounting thread, retaining the same mounting size.

More clearance

The spacer separates the head from the tripod platform so the support does not obstruct its intended tilt. It creates clearance; it does not add a tilt mechanism or change the head’s own controls.

Build the right setup

Manfrotto specifies the 400 (formerly 3263) as the intended geared head. Other supports and heads must have matching 3/8″ connections and suitable mounting clearance. Screw the spacer onto the tripod first, then attach the head. Check both connections and the complete setup before mounting a camera; the adapter does not increase any component’s load capacity.
