The Tilta TA-ABP-G is an adapter battery plate that turns a Sony L-Series (NP-F) battery mount into a V-Mount: at the back it slides into the mount like an NP-F battery, at the front it carries a V-Mount battery with many times the capacity. It is designed for Z CAM bodies with a built-in NP-F mount, but also serves an LED panel or monitor running on NP-F. The Type I version is longer so that room remains beside it on the Z CAM for the HDMI cable. Tilta Gray.
The Tilta Sony L Series to V Mount Adapter Battery Plate Type I solves a simple problem: the camera or accessory has a mount for Sony NP-F batteries, but the small cells need swapping all the time. The adapter slides into the mount in place of the NP-F battery and offers a V-Mount on its front for a large battery, from which the rig lasts far longer.
The adapter is designed for Z CAM bodies that have a built-in Sony L-Series battery mount. It slides in like an NP-F battery and the camera then runs from a V-Mount battery, so battery swaps disappear for most of the shooting day. It serves a smaller LED panel or a focus-station monitor just as well, as these traditionally run from small NP-F cells.
The Type I version is deliberately longer than its Type II sibling: on Z CAM bodies this leaves room beside the adapter for the HDMI cable, which a shorter adapter would cover. The V-Mount on the front takes any V-Mount battery. The body is aluminium alloy with stainless steel parts, in Tilta Gray with black parts — the colour of Tilta cages for Z CAM.
The back carries an NP-F dummy battery with contacts, by which the adapter sits in the Sony L-Series mount just like an original cell. Power from the V-Mount battery flows through it straight into the camera or accessory — no cable and no extra connector that could work loose.
Tilta battery plates have one job: to bring power from a large V-Mount or Gold Mount battery to the camera and its accessories so that battery swaps are kept to a minimum. They distribute power through P-Tap, USB-C and two-pin LEMO outputs, for which Tilta offers power cables for specific cameras, monitors and video transmitters; plates for a specific body mount in the battery chamber or on the cage, universal plates on 15 mm rods, and adapters in the mounts of smaller batteries. This part is one of them.
