Tilta Illusion 86mm Magnetic Filter Adapter Ring

The Tilta TF-MFA-86 is the Illusion Magnetic adapter ring for lenses with a 86 mm front filter thread. It screws onto the lens like a regular filter; from then on, Tilta Illusion magnetic filters (CPL, VND, UV, Black Mist) click onto it in one move — no threading. A mechanical lock backs up the magnet, so the filter stays put until you release it yourself. Ultra-slim aluminium ring; available in 67, 72, 77, 82 and 86 mm.

Ring for a 86 mm filter thread

The ring screws onto the 86 mm front filter thread of photo and cine lenses just like a classic screw-in filter. It stays on the lens permanently: it is ultra-slim, made of aluminium, and adds no noticeable bulk or weight. Illusion magnetic filters then attach and detach with a single click, so swapping a CPL for a VND takes a second and there is no thread to cross or jam.

Magnetic connection with mechanical locking

An Illusion filter is held on the ring by a magnet and, on top of that, by a mechanical lock — dual security that will not let go on its own, yet you still remove the filter in one move when you want to. The magnetic filters can be stacked, the base CPL locks in place and the next filter goes on top.

Five mainstream lens sizes

Illusion Magnetic rings cover the five most common filter threads: 67, 72, 77, 82 and 86 mm. The 86 mm size is for oversized professional lenses. One ring per lens is all it takes — the set of magnetic filters is then shared by every lens that carries a ring.

The Tilta Illusion Magnetic system

The system is built on the adapter ring on the lens and the Tilta Illusion magnetic filters that click onto it: the CPL circular polariser, its variants with a 5-stop ND and with Black Mist 1/4, the VND adapter for the CPL, a UV filter, and the Creator Kit and Ultimate Kit sets. The same filters are used on lenses with different threads — only the ring changes.
