The Tilta 80 mm Cinema ring puts the MB-T15 Mini Matte Box onto cine lenses. Those have no filter thread for an ordinary adapter ring, so this one goes over the 80 mm front diameter of the lens from the outside and its split construction grips it. The matte box then clamps onto the ring exactly as it would on a photographic lens — no rods, no support.

Cine lenses have a smooth front diameter in standard sizes instead of a filter thread. Tilta makes Cinema rings for it in two versions — 80 mm and 85 mm; this one is for 80 mm.
The ring goes over the lens, is tightened down and the matte box clamps onto it. Unlike the rings for photographic lenses it has no internal thread for a circular filter — on cine glass the filters go into the 4×5.65″ front slot of the matte box. The material is ABS plastic.
