The Sennheiser MKH 800 TWIN NX is a universal studio condenser microphone of exceptional quality in a grey Nextel finish. Its dual capsule with two symmetrical push-pull transducers outputs both signals separately, so the pattern from omni to figure-8 is set in the mix – even afterwards. The frequency response extends to 50 kHz.

Its dual capsule with two symmetrical push-pull transducers outputs both signals separately, so the pattern from omni to figure-8 is set in the mix – even afterwards. The frequency response extends to 50 kHz.
It is a side-fire microphone: the two cardioid patterns of the transducers face back to back across the microphone axis. The signals are not combined inside the microphone but come out as two channels that can be mixed freely at the console – from omni to figure-8 with infinite intermediate stages.

Remote adjustability and variable patterns make the MKH 800 TWIN a universal main, soloist or supporting microphone. Patterns can be optimised while monitoring, and two-channel recording allows further mixes later on.
The 30 Hz to 50 kHz frequency response improves the resolution of complex acoustic detail.
Very low self-noise does not mask fine sound structures or the depth of the room.
High sensitivity gives a strong signal, so preamp noise matters less.
A wide range of stereo and surround mixes can be made from the two channels in parallel.
