The Sennheiser IE 900 are reference in-ear earphones with X3R technology: the 7 mm TrueResponse transducer is paired with three Helmholtz resonators milled directly into the aluminium housing, which eliminate resonance peaks. The housing is milled from a single block of aluminium, the earphones are made at Sennheiser’s plant in Ireland and the transducers are matched during manufacturing. Frequency response 5–48,000 Hz, gold-plated Fidelity+ MMCX connectors and three cables in the box – balanced 2.5 mm and 4.4 mm and unbalanced 3.5 mm.
The IE 900 reveal the true potential of any recording: brilliant treble with no sibilance, powerful lows that never muddy the mids, and the ability to resolve even the finest details.

Three Helmholtz resonators milled directly into the aluminium housing eliminate resonance peaks that would colour the sound. In addition, the Vortex structure in the nozzle of each earphone swirls acoustic energy in these bands to smooth out the remaining peaks.
Multi-driver systems bring phase issues and distortion in overlapping frequency bands. That is why the IE 900 rely on a single 7 mm extra-wideband TrueResponse transducer (XWB), which Sennheiser further refined for this model.
A five-axis CNC machine cuts each housing individually from a single block of aluminium. Once anodized, the housing is highly resistant to wear and corrosion.
An unbalanced cable with a 3.5 mm jack for headphone amps, laptops and audio interfaces, plus balanced 2.5 mm and 4.4 mm cables for connecting directly to hi-fi components with balanced outputs.
A small chamber within a chamber manages the slope and amplitude of the bass lift and clearly separates lows from mids.
The transducers in each pair are matched during automated manufacturing, practically eliminating variance between them.
The frequency response extends from 5 Hz to 48,000 Hz, with total harmonic distortion of just 0.05% (1 kHz, 94 dB).
Store the earphones and cables in the supplied serialized carry case; the presentation box also contains a signed certificate.
A high-fidelity recording is a work of art, and the IE 900 deliver it without damage. If it is a masterpiece, you will hear it: brilliant treble with no trace of sibilance, powerful lows that never muddy the mids, and warm, comfortable sound even during long sessions.

The IE 900 are built at Sennheiser’s audiophile manufacturing plant in Ireland – the same facility that builds the HD 800 S, HD 820, HD 650 and HD 600. Aluminium is well suited to high-precision milling and gives the electro-acoustic components an aesthetically pleasing, long-lasting housing.

The inspiration came from the professional in-ear monitoring systems used by musicians. Adjustable ear hooks adapt to the natural shape of the ear, and the box includes silicone and foam ear adapters, both in sizes S, M and L. The earphones are at home at your desk, on a train or on a walk through the woods.

Gold-plated Fidelity+ MMCX connectors ensure reliable contact and sit in a recessed 4.8 mm-wide socket below the surface of the housing, which protects them from bending. The para-aramid reinforced cables withstand many thousands of bend cycles.
