RGBlink MSP 318N HDMI 2.0 to Fiber Extender

The RGBlink MSP 318N is a transmitter and receiver set that carries HDMI 2.0 up to 4K at 60 Hz in RGB 4:4:4 (18 Gb/s) with HDR over optical fibre. SFP+ modules are chosen to suit the run – single-mode up to 10 km, multi-mode up to 300 m – and are ordered separately. The transmitter has an HDMI loop-through output and audio embedding, the receiver an audio output; the fibre also carries bi-directional IR and RS-232.

When the display is far away or the run passes through an environment full of interference, optical fibre takes over the HDMI 2.0 signal. The source side keeps a preview via the loop-through output, the display side gets de-embedded audio and control of both ends.

Connection

The transmitter takes HDMI from the source (Blu-ray, laptop) and audio from a microphone, connects a monitor to the HDMI loop-through output and sends the signal over optical fibre to the receiver. The receiver outputs HDMI to a projector and audio to speakers; IR cables and the RS-232 port let you control devices at both ends.

Transmitter and receiver

The transmitter has an HDMI 2.0 input, an HDMI loop-through output, an audio input (3.5 mm), an RS-232 port (Phoenix 3.81 mm), IR input and output and an SFP+ slot with two LC connectors. The receiver has an SFP+ slot, an HDMI 2.0 output, an audio output, RS-232 and IR. EDID is set with DIP switches.

Picture, sound and control

Colour spaces RGB, YCbCr 4:4:4 / 4:2:2 and YUV 4:2:0, colour depth 8/10/12-bit at 1080p60 and 8-bit at 4K60, HDR and 3D support. It carries LPCM 2/5.1/7.1, Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD Master Audio and DSD audio. IR works at 20–60 kHz, RS-232 at 4,800–115,200 baud.
