Nikon NIKKOR Z 40mm f/2 SE

The Nikon NIKKOR Z 40mm f/2 SE is a small, fast special edition lens whose looks are based on classic Ai NIKKOR lenses. The versatile 40 mm focal length (60 mm on DX format) suits street, snapshots and portraits, and the f/2 aperture with a nine-blade diaphragm creates soft bokeh. The lens weighs 170 g and focuses from 0.29 m.

A sharp, fast lens with an iconic look and a size small enough for discreet shooting, it is a dependable everyday companion. Even in low light it delivers richly detailed images, from spontaneous snapshots to carefully composed shots, and a sharp subject against a softly blurred background has never been easier.

The style of classic Ai NIKKOR lenses

The special edition of the 40 mm f/2 features design details faithfully taken from the original drawings of Ai NIKKOR lenses – from the knurled control ring to the lettering of the lens name. The retro look suits every Nikon Z camera.

Soft bokeh

The f/2 aperture and nine-blade rounded diaphragm create large, soft and naturally round bokeh. In dim light you get sharp images with low noise without raising ISO sensitivity.

Sharp up close

The 0.29 m minimum focus distance lets you get close to your subject, for example for tabletop photos. At short distances, an artistically blurred background also stands out.

For travel and video

At 45.5 mm long and 170 g, this is a lens you can carry all the time. In video, focus breathing is suppressed and exposure is stable. The control ring can be assigned one of many functions, and the barrel is designed with dust and drip resistance in mind.
