The NIKON NIKKOR Z 120-300mm f/2.8 TC VR S is the world’s first zoom telephoto lens with a constant f/2.8 aperture and a built-in 1.4× teleconverter. Designed for professional sports photographers, this high-performance S-series lens allows you to reliably capture even the most crucial moments. It offers image quality comparable to that of fixed-focal-length lenses, even when using the teleconverter, along with exceptionally precise autofocus and a rugged construction—all while remaining surprisingly lightweight.
From the atmosphere in the stadium to action shots straight from the game—the NIKKOR Z 120–300 mm f/2.8 TC VR S allows sports photographers to always be right where the action is. The built-in 1.4× teleconverter extends the focal length range from 120–300 mm to 168–420 mm, and when using DX crop mode, a focal length of up to 630 mm can be achieved. Thanks to its constant f/2.8 maximum aperture and the advanced optical design of the S series, the lens delivers impressive detail across the entire focal length range. Special optical elements and coatings ensure high contrast and exceptional image clarity, even when shooting into direct sunlight or under intense artificial lighting.
Compared to its F-mount predecessor, the NIKKOR Z 120–300 mm f/2.8 TC VR S offers sports photographers a significant leap in responsiveness and handling. Nikon’s Silky Swift AF system ensures fast, quiet, and exceptionally precise subject tracking. In addition, a new control algorithm keeps pace even with the highest continuous shooting speeds. This Nikon Z-mount sports lens is also approximately 515 g lighter than its predecessor, despite the built-in teleconverter. The reduced weight helps minimize fatigue when shooting handheld. Practical features that can make a significant difference also include an internal zoom with a stable center of gravity, greater customization options for controls, compatibility with the Arca-Swiss system, and the ability to use both front and rear filters.
Focal length range of 120–420 mm with a built-in 1.4× teleconverter
Image quality is comparable to that of a prime lens, even when using the teleconverter.
Excellent rendering, impressive detail
The S Series’ optical design delivers high-contrast images with exceptional clarity. It incorporates Super ED and SR glass elements, as well as Meso Amorphous and ARNEO coatings.
Optical image stabilization with up to 6.5 EV of effectiveness
It allows you to capture fast-moving subjects, isolate the subject from the background with a soft bokeh, and take sharp, clear, and detailed images even at lower ISO settings.
Breakthrough autofocus
A multi-phase focusing system equipped with Nikon Silky Swift linear motors delivers a new level of precision. A new control algorithm keeps pace even with the highest continuous shooting speeds.
Lightweight Design for Greater Shooting Comfort
This fast telephoto zoom lens weighs 2,735 g (approx.) and fits into carry-on luggage that meets international standards.
Extensive customization options
The control ring can also be used as a focus ring, and functions can be assigned to the two L-Fn buttons or the Fn ring.
Internal zoom
When changing the focal length, the lens’s center of gravity remains stable, ensuring more balanced handling.
Advanced Sealing
Prevents the ingress of dust, dirt, and moisture. A fluorine coating makes it easier to clean the front lens element.
Designed for Demanding Professionals
Compatibility with the Arca-Swiss mounting system allows for quick removal of the lens from a tripod. The lens supports screw-in filters on the front and slide-in filters on the rear. Nikon’s iconic yellow stripe remains visible even when the lens hood is attached.
HB-120 Lens Hood
A lightweight bayonet-mount lens hood with no protruding mounting knobs for easy storage.
