The Neumann WS 82 is a professional foam windscreen designed specifically for the Neumann KMR 82i shotgun microphone. Made from acoustically optimized open-cell polyurethane foam, it effectively reduces wind noise, handling noise, and air turbulence while maintaining the microphone’s directional characteristics and natural sound quality.
The Neumann WS 82 is a high-performance foam windscreen engineered for use with the Neumann KMR 82i shotgun microphone. Designed to minimize unwanted wind noise and air turbulence, the WS 82 is an essential accessory for outdoor recording, broadcast production, film, television, and location sound applications.
Manufactured from specially formulated open-cell polyurethane foam, the windscreen provides excellent wind attenuation without introducing unwanted resonances or significantly altering the microphone’s polar pattern. This ensures that the KMR 82i maintains its precise directional performance and natural audio reproduction even in challenging environmental conditions.
The WS 82 delivers approximately 15 dB of wind noise reduction when tested at a wind speed of 20 km/h without electrical filtering. While providing substantial protection against wind and movement noise, it introduces only minimal high-frequency attenuation of approximately 2 dB at 15 kHz, preserving clarity and detail in recorded audio.
With a diameter of 50 mm and a length of 350 mm, the WS 82 is specifically sized for the KMR 82i shotgun microphone, offering a secure fit and professional appearance. Its lightweight construction makes it ideal for boom-mounted applications and extended field recording sessions.
