The Manfrotto 179 is a heavy-duty 16 mm (5/8″ Baby) female receiver adapter with a captive locking thumb-screw, a protruding 3/8″-16 male screw, and a large 80 mm disc base. It’s the classic stand-to-head adapter that drops securely over any Baby stud and instantly provides a rock-solid 3/8″ mounting point plus an 80 mm disc for perfect compatibility with Manfrotto geared heads, lateral arms, or any accessory needing a wide, stable disc interface.

The Manfrotto 179 is one of the most-used grip adapters in professional studios. The 16 mm female socket slides over any standard Baby pin and locks with the built-in thumb-screw, while the top presents a 3/8″-16 male screw and an 80 mm diameter disc that prevents over-rotation and gives the same secure footprint as the top of a 400/405/410 geared head or 131DDB side arm.
