K&F Concept Nano-X soft graduated filter GND8 58 mm

Nano-X — graduated filter 58 mm, darkens the sky and leaves the land untouched. The soft transition suits landscapes with an uneven horizon, where a hard edge would also darken hills or trees rising above the skyline.

• Screws onto a lens with a 58 mm thread.
• The surface repels water and grease and resists scratches

Balanced sky and land

A graduated filter is dark at the top and fades steadily into clear glass towards the bottom. That evens out the gap between a bright sky and dark land which the sensor cannot record in one go — the sky keeps its detail and the shadows in the foreground do not block up. The graduation is rotated to match where the horizon sits in the frame.

The surface repels water and grease, so drops run off and fingerprints wipe away without smears; the coating also stands up to cleaning in the field. The graduation is soft, so the edge does not give itself away even where the horizon is not straight — among trees, over hills or above a city. A hard graduation would leave a visible line in a scene like that.
