Feelworld TP10 tablet teleprompter

The Feelworld TP10 is a folding 10" teleprompter for DSLRs, mirrorless bodies and phones. The script runs on your own phone or tablet up to eleven inches, in landscape or portrait, driven from the app or from the bundled Bluetooth remote with a range of up to one hundred metres. The beam splitter folds down to 27 millimetres; a sun-hood, eight adapter rings from 49 to 77 mm and a shaped carrying case are in the box.

Read the script straight down the lens axis

The TP10 sets a beam splitter at an angle in front of the lens: the camera sees through it, the speaker sees the reflected script in it. So you look into the lens while you read, and the viewer never notices a script is running. The ten-inch pane splits light 50/50 and is large enough for longer paragraphs.

The script runs on your own phone or tablet — the unit has no display of its own. You can record with a DSLR or with a phone, in landscape or portrait, which suits interviews, online teaching and social video.

A tablet up to eleven inches

The phone and tablet clamp extends

The clamp takes a phone or a tablet up to eleven inches. To fit a tablet, press the up-arrow button and pull the clamp open. A bigger display means bigger type, so the script stays readable from several metres.

The manufacturer states the clamp fits phones 59 to 90 millimetres wide. Heavier tablets load the clamp — for those the manufacturer offers an optional telescopic support rod with a clamp, which is not included and is bought separately.

Recording with a phone, landscape or portrait

The phone clamp slots into the back

Besides a DSLR you can record with the phone itself. The supplied phone clamp slides into a slot on the back of the teleprompter, upright or on its side, so you get portrait or landscape footage.

Two EVA foam rings are in the box for phone recording. They sit between the phone and the lens opening and stop stray light from leaking into the lens.

A wide-angle lens from 24 mm

The lens screws to the teleprompter through an adapter ring matching its filter thread. Eight rings are in the box: 49, 52, 55, 58, 62, 67, 72 and 77 mm.

Take the UV filter off the lens before fitting a ring. Otherwise the ring can bind onto the filter and the two cannot be separated — the manufacturer warns about this explicitly.

Landscape shooting needs 24 millimetres or longer, portrait shooting 35 millimetres or longer. With a wide-angle lens the field of view is wider than the teleprompter frame, so its edge never enters the picture.

Five 1/4" threads and a sun-hood

Two on the top, three on the underside

There are two 1/4" threads on the top for a microphone or an LED panel and three on the underside for a tripod or a light stand. An extension cold shoe is not included and is bought separately.

The clip-on sun-hood shuts out side light that would mirror in the glass, so the script stays readable even in a studio with hard sources.

Three 1/4" C-ring screws and a microfibre cloth are in the box as well. The beam splitter is an optical part — fingerprints and dust show up more in a reflection than on a display, so wipe it regularly.

Folds to 27 mm and travels in its case

The beam splitter folds into the body, so the folded teleprompter is 27 millimetres thick. That protects the glass, and setting up on location is a single movement.

A shaped carrying case is in the box and holds the teleprompter with all the accessories. It mainly protects the glass, which is the most vulnerable part in transit.

App and Bluetooth remote

FEELWORLD Teleprompter for Android and iOS

The script is typed or pasted into the FEELWORLD Teleprompter app, free for Android and iOS. It sets type size, text and background colour, margins, scroll speed, mirroring and loop playback. iOS users find it in the App Store under FEELWORLD; on Android it is downloaded by scanning the QR code.

The bundled Bluetooth remote starts and stops the scroll, speeds it up and slows it down, enlarges and reduces the type, pages through the script, switches between portrait and landscape and turns on loop play. The manufacturer quotes a range of up to one hundred metres.

The remote does not connect like an ordinary Bluetooth keyboard — the app handles pairing itself, so it should not be paired by hand in the phone settings. What individual buttons do can differ with the phone brand and the version of the system.
