This professional full-frame prime for Nikon Z combines a natural perspective, bright f/1.4 aperture and fast dual HyperVCM autofocus. It is built for portraits, reportage, street, products and video.

F1.4: light, depth and smooth bokeh

The large aperture supports faster shutter speeds and lower ISO. Eleven blades render smooth blur, while the 50mm perspective remains natural and broadly useful.

Dual HyperVCM keeps pace with action

Two powerful voice-coil motors move the focusing group quickly, accurately and quietly. Eye and face detection support helps track dynamic subjects, while minimal focus breathing maintains stable framing in video.

Optical construction and MTF chart

15 elements engineered for high resolution

The 15-element, 11-group optical design uses 1 ultra-precision UA aspherical, 3 ED and 8 HR elements. Blue marks low-dispersion glass, turquoise high-refractive glass and yellow the UA element. The chart on the right shows contrast transfer at f/1.4 and f/8.

Direct control for stills and video

A custom Fn button, AF/MF switch and click/de-click aperture control keep key settings outside the menu. Internal focusing preserves the lens length.
