The ATOM 500 SDI kit transmits video from a camera to a director's monitor wirelessly. Both the transmitter and receiver feature 3G-SDI and HDMI inputs and outputs, so the system can be connected into any chain—from the camera via SDI to the monitor via HDMI, or vice versa.
It supports 1080p60 and 1080i60 with a latency of less than 80 ms—short enough for the focus operator to work based on the live image. The antenna is built into the body, so there’s nothing to break or scratch, and the line-of-sight range is 150 m (500 feet).
Upon startup, the kit automatically selects the best channel from among thirteen optimized channels. The video can also be viewed simultaneously on up to three devices via the mobile app—a QR code on the display pairs your phone, and the app is also used to update the firmware.
Power is supplied in two ways: via a USB-C connector or an NP-F (Sony L) series battery. The battery can be swapped out while the system is running without interrupting the transmission. Each unit has its own OLED display showing connection status and a fan that can be turned off.
