At the heart of the system, the VZROCKEXD zoom control features a pressure-sensitive rocker and large-diameter speed dial with marker ring, enabling operators to preset maximum zoom speeds and feather the rocker for delicate adjustments. A low-profile record/pause button and video return button enhance on-camera workflow by playing back the last 5 seconds of recorded material.

The VZFC-U focus unit provides smooth manual focus control via a tripod handle and mounts to standard 15/19mm rod systems. It includes a clamp-on EX gear adapter and bracket-mounted gearbox, compatible with Sony PXW-X200, PMW-200, PMW-300, EX1, and EX3 cameras.
