The Tilta Zombie Rig is a support system for a boom pole that shifts its weight off the boom operator’s arms onto a mixer bag, a support vest or a C-stand. The pole sits in a bracket with 360° rotation and smooth vertical travel, so the microphone can be aimed precisely one-handed — the other hand stays on the mixer. Shims fit poles 32, 35, 37 and 38 mm in diameter.
The Tilta Zombie Rig grew out of conversations with over a hundred sound professionals and solves the most exhausting part of their job: holding a pole overhead for a whole shooting day. The system is modular, fits poles in four diameters and breaks down into its bag; built from carbon fibre and aluminium, it weighs 2.4 kg.
The base is a support pole that mounts to a mixer bag via a baby pin. From there the weight of the boom pole goes into the body rather than into outstretched arms — a difference you feel after the first hour of shooting. The same baby pin fits a third-party support vest or a C-stand when a long static scene is rolling.
The operating bracket clamps onto the rear end of the boom pole. The articulated build and 90° transmission let you change the microphone’s direction and pickup distance with one hand movement; the pole rotates a full 360° about its axis and moves vertically without detents or jerks.
The included shims adapt the clamp to poles 32, 35, 37 and 38 mm in diameter, so the system fits poles from different brands. You do not have to change the pole you are used to just for the mount.
The XLR connector protection module carries a 1/4″-20 thread for a counterweight. It balances a long pole about its support point, so the microphone stays where you put it and your hand only corrects the aim.
The modular build lets you break the system into parts that stay under 1 metre in length. The included transport bag has a place for each part, so the kit assembles and packs away quickly even between two locations.
The support poles are high-strength carbon fibre, the connecting parts aluminium alloy, and polyurethane completes the contact surfaces. The whole system weighs 2.4 kg. Patented mechanics hold the geometry even after long service.
