Sony E PZ 10-20mm F4 G

The Sony E PZ 10–20mm F4 G is a compact ultra-wide-angle power zoom lens for Sony E-mount cameras with an APS-C sensor. Its constant F4 aperture, internal zoom and focus, and 178 g weight make it a natural fit for vlogging, gimbal work and travel. The zoom is operated by the ring, the lever on the barrel or remotely from a compatible grip.

A zoom lever for smooth zooms

The zoom lever on the lens handles very slow constant-speed zooms that are hard to do with the ring. Next to it sit the focus hold button and the AF/MF switch.

Length stays the same while zooming

Internal zoom and focus keep the lens 55 mm long at all times. The centre of gravity does not shift, so a gimbal rig stays balanced throughout the shot.

Built for video

Reduced focus breathing and minimal focus shift when zooming keep framing steady. Autofocus is driven by two linear motors — fast and quiet.

Close to the subject

With manual focus it focuses from 0.13 m with up to 0.18× magnification.

Dust and moisture resistant

Seals protect the buttons, switches and mount, although it is not guaranteed to be 100% proof.

The petal-shaped ALC-SH169 lens hood attaches by bayonet; filter diameter is 62 mm.

The 10–20 mm range equals 15–30 mm in full-frame terms — from an extremely wide view to a classic wide-angle look. The smallest and lightest in its class
According to a Sony survey from June 2022, it is the smallest and lightest constant-F4 ultra-wide APS-C power zoom for mirrorless cameras. It is just 55 mm long and weighs 178 g. Zoom and focus are internal, so the length of the lens does not change and the centre of gravity stays put — a real advantage for vlogging and gimbal shooting.

Dynamic perspectives
The 10 mm wide end (15 mm equivalent) gives a 109° angle of view. It takes in sweeping landscapes and shows more in small rooms. The strong perspective separates the subject from the background and, in video, emphasises distance or speed.

Quality optics in a small body
Three aspherical elements suppress field curvature and astigmatism, while an ED (Extra-low Dispersion) aspherical element subdues chromatic aberration. The lens keeps high resolution across the frame throughout the 10–20 mm range. Bokeh has the natural rendering of G Lenses. It focuses from 0.20 m with AF and, with manual focus, from 0.13 m at the wide end (0.17 m at the tele end), with up to 0.18× magnification.

The electronic power zoom system converts zoom ring rotation into zoom movement instantly, so framing follows your intent exactly. The zoom lever makes super-slow constant-speed zooms easy — something that is hard to do by hand. Zoom can also be controlled remotely from compatible cameras, grips, remote commanders or smart devices; availability depends on the camera and accessory.

Ready for smooth video
The lens design reduces focus breathing as well as focus and axial shift when zooming. Distracting changes in angle of view and framing are kept to a minimum, so viewers stay immersed in the image. On compatible cameras the lens supports the Breathing Compensation function.

Fast focusing and reliable build
Autofocus is driven by two linear motors — fast, precise and quiet, for video and stills. Linear Response MF translates focus ring rotation directly and repeatably. The lens has an AF/MF switch and a focus hold button that can be assigned another function. The construction is dust and moisture resistant, although it is not guaranteed to be 100% proof.
