Sony DVF-EL1 OLED Viewfinder

The Sony DVF-EL1 OLED Viewfinder is a high-resolution, detachable tilt-type electronic viewfinder for the Sony FX5 Cinema Line camera. It features a 0.58-type OLED panel with approximately 7.07 million dots, 10-bit display with HDR monitoring, a wide colour gamut equivalent to DCI-P3 and up to 0.90× magnification. It delivers exceptional image clarity for precise focus and exposure checks, even when shooting outdoors in bright conditions.

OLED viewfinder for the FX5

The viewfinder mounts on top of the Sony FX5 and connects to its VF terminal. It lets you check focus and exposure accurately even outdoors in bright light, where the camera screen is harder to read.

Tilts up to 90°

The viewfinder tilts from 0° to approximately 90°, so you can look into it comfortably even when shooting from a low angle.

Eyecup for either eye

The detachable eyecup can be fitted reversed to suit whichever eye you use. Without it, your eye can get closer to the eyepoint, which glasses wearers will appreciate. Diopter adjustment ranges from −4.0 to +3.0 m⁻¹.

Viewfinder or MI Shoe

The DVF-EL1 viewfinder cannot be used at the same time as the camera's Multi Interface (MI) Shoe. Bear this in mind when building a rig with a microphone or XLR adapter in the shoe.

Two magnification modes

The "VF Magnification" setting switches between "Standard", which prioritises resolution, and "Zoom Out" for a better view of the whole frame.

10-bit image with HDR

The DCI-P3-equivalent colour gamut, 10-bit display and HDR monitoring faithfully render fine detail and rich colour.

The terminal cap stays with you

The camera's VF terminal protective cap can be stored right inside the viewfinder body once removed.

Light and made with recycled plastic

The viewfinder weighs approximately 95.7 g. Recycled plastics, including SORPLAS™, make up over 59% of the weight of its plastic parts.

The DVF-EL1 viewfinder offers two magnification modes: the "VF Magnification" setting switches between "Standard" and "Zoom Out" to suit your shooting style. With up to 0.90× magnification, operators can prioritise either maximum image resolution or a better overview of the whole frame for easier composition during handheld, low-angle or high-angle shooting.

A vertical tilt mechanism lets the viewfinder tilt upwards from 0° to approximately 90°, improving viewing flexibility in a wide range of shooting positions. The eyecup is detachable and can be fitted reversed for left- or right-eye use. With the eyecup removed, the eye can get closer to the eyepoint, so viewing stays comfortable even when wearing glasses.

For added convenience, the camera's VF terminal protective cap can be stored inside the viewfinder body once removed, so it does not get lost during setup. In line with Sony's "Road to Zero" environmental plan, recycled plastics, including the durable SORPLAS™ material, make up more than 59% of the weight of the main unit's plastic parts, and Sony is moving to non-plastic packaging materials.
