SHAPE Cage for Sony a7 II, a7S II and a7R II

A SHAPE aluminum cage custom-shaped to fit the Sony a7 II, a7S II, and a7R II. It securely encloses the camera so it cannot rotate, and adds a cold shoe and a series of 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 threads for accessories—while leaving the controls, battery, memory card, and connectors accessible.

The SHAPE cage is a lightweight aluminum structure precisely shaped to fit the Sony a7 II, a7S II, and a7R II. It wraps around the camera from the sides and bottom, preventing it from rotating, and turns it into a platform onto which accessories can be mounted.

The top features a cold shoe, and the perimeter has 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 threads for arms, lights, microphones, or a monitor mount. The ergonomically shaped side of the cage serves as a grip for handheld shooting, and the bottom has a 1/4"-20 thread for a tripod.

The cage is designed with camera operation in mind: the battery and memory card compartments, as well as the connectors, remain accessible without removing the cage. On the side is a micro HDMI cable lock that holds a 4K cable in place and protects the camera’s connector. The cage also leaves room for the Sony XLR-K2M audio adapter in the hot shoe.

For users of the Metabones Canon EF to Sony E adapter, the cage includes its own support bracket that bears the weight of heavier adapted lenses so they don’t pull on the camera’s mount.
