Sennheiser Spectera SEK

The Sennheiser Spectera SEK is a bidirectional bodypack: one unit that carries a microphone or line signal to the desk and an in-ear monitor feed back to the performer, over a single encrypted RF link. On a conventional stage that job takes two bodypacks, two batteries and two slices of spectrum per person — the SEK does it with one of each, which is what makes it worth the change. Every parameter can be controlled and monitored remotely in LinkDesk: monitor volume, audio level, RF health and battery state, without anyone walking on stage. The headphone amplifier adapts automatically to the impedance of whatever earphones are plugged in, the transmission is encrypted with AES 256 and the unit watches for RF interference continuously. An E-ink display, a rotary control and a metal body handle daily touring, and charging contacts mean the pack can go on a charger without opening anything. It fits Sennheiser lavalier and headworn microphones with a 3-pin Lemo connector.

Everything visible from the desk

LinkDesk shows and controls monitor volume, audio level, RF health and battery state for every pack in the system. Nobody has to walk on stage mid-show to check a battery or nudge a monitor level — and a problem is visible before the performer has to signal about it.

Adapts to the earphones that are plugged in

The headphone amplifier matches the impedance of whatever in-ears the performer uses, so the monitor mix sounds the way it should without a technician compensating for the model. Continuous RF monitoring and AES 256 encryption keep the link both stable and private, which matters as much in a conference hall as on a stage.
